Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre
The Canada 2007 global village will be at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre (VCEC).
Registration, social gatherings, conference administration facilities and all plenary sessions will be held at the VCEC and the program of concurrent and sub-plenary sessions will be scheduled within the VCEC and its two adjoining hotels, the Pan Pacific and the Fairmont Waterfront.
The VCEC juts into one of the most attractive harbours in the world, it makes an architectural statement: a ship under full sail; an adventure waiting to happen. From its decks, conference participants will enjoy a spectacular vista of mountains, ocean and sky. Only the quality of service and attention to detail rival the setting. The VCEC will provide food and beverage catering, impeccably presented innovative west coast cuisine; and dedicated, professional suppliers will provide the required full range of event services.
The VCEC provides two levels of scenic spaces designed as a series of modules. The convention level offers more than 110,000 ft² (10,200 m²) of functionality, including 91,200 ft² (8,500 m²) of exhibition space and a 16,600 ft² (1,540 m²) ballroom. The exhibition space and ballrooms will be divided, decorated and equipped to provide dedicated plenary meeting space for the opening and closing ceremonies, morning plenary sessions, exhibition and poster presentation space, and a conference "town square" for participants to gather, network and enjoy their meals and breaks.
The meeting room level is connected to the convention level by elevators and multiple escalators. It contains 20 attractive, break-out rooms ranging in size from 500 to 6,500 ft² (47 to 600 m²). The meeting rooms will be fully equipped for concurrent sessions.
Registration and information/assistance facilities will be located in the 11,000 ft² (1,024 m²) atrium lobby that soars eight stories to a glass canopy. Additional gathering and display facilities will be situated in the enclosed 17,000 ft² (1,600 m²) west concourse, offering full-length harbour views.
